CiderPunk mulled cider

  • 2 litres of Artisan Cider
  • 500ml cranberry juice
  • 2 tangerines, clementines or other small citrus fruits
  • 2 sticks cinammon
  • 2 cardammon pods
  • 1 star anise
  • Approx. 20 cloves
  • 60ml dark rum
  • 4 tbsp honey

Pour the cider and cranberry juice into a saucepan. Grate the zest of the fruits into the pan, or if you have a muslin bag, into that instead. Place all the spices either in the bag or directly in the pan. If using a bag, tie it up now and drop it in.

Stud the zested fruits with the cloves, and put in the pan with the cider. Stir in the honey.

Simmer the cider for 10-15 minutes. DO NOT BOIL! You'll lose all the alcohol if you do!

When ready to serve, remove from the heat and add the rum. Add more honey or sugar to taste. Serve piping hot!
