CiderPunk.com December Newsletter
Blimey it's cold! No wonder, it's December already. And along with the beginning of a new month comes the first of a series of regular monthly newsletters. Our previous missives have been a bit ad-hoc, so we're trying to be "all adult" and disciplined about it. So as long as we can see through the cidery haze, we'll try to get a newsletter out somewhere near the beginning of each month.
How about some mulled cider at Christmas?
It's already that festive season once again. And mulled cider makes a wonderful alternative to mulled wine, especially in these credit-crunchy times. And on the website http://ciderpunk.com/ you'll find our prominently labelled recipes section, with all sorts of interesting cider-based recipes, one of which is our mulled cider recipe, which has a couple of unusual twists about it. We'd love to hear your feedback if you try it.
Of course, it goes best with a traditional artisan cider product, like those we sell on the website :)
Roger Wilkins joins CiderPunk
We've just signed up charismatic and infamous cider maker Roger Wilkins to CiderPunk. We're all very pleased about this as Roger is renowned for his character and passion and was awarded this year's "Pomona" award by CAMRA. A Pomona is a book of apples, containing drawings to help you identify varieties. The CAMRA Pomona award is for the individual or organisation who makes the biggest contribution to the art and craft of cider and perry making.
With that kind of accolade, you can see why we're pleased! And as soon as we finalise the details, and polish off the gallon he gave us to cement the deal, we'll have him on the site ready for you to sample his wares.

UPDATE: Roger's cider now available!
CiderPunk Blog
With litle fanfare, we've launched our blog, as you might have figured out if you followed the link above. On it we plan to post all sorts of interesting titbits about cider production and consumption. You can also add your comments. Among the gems we've added so far you can find out about the "Champagne" method of wine production being invented in the West Country (true!) and what the benefits are of putting cider vinegar on your scalp (there are some!) as well as a map of where to find all the cider producers we know about in Somerset.
New cider almost ready
Almost the best thing about December is that the new cider is almost ready! Well I say "almost", traditionally the new cider is not drunk until Wassail, which is when we sing to the cider apple trees to encourage a good harvest for the coming year, in early January. But for now it's just sitting there, fermenting, all ready to become a new batch of magic golden juice to keep us all happy for another year.
