Alternative use for cider vinegar - use it on your head

Here at CiderPunk.com we sell Cider vinegar, produced from real Somerset Cider. Its main use in this country is as a salad dressing, due to its exquisite flavour and low acidity. Indeed, even celebrated chef Rick Stein visited John Harris at West Croft cider to sample some.

In the U.S., however, cider vinegar is widely touted as beneficial to health, a tablespoon morning and night being the prescription for all sorts of claimed benefits, including weight loss. However, it's the first time I've heard of it being used on one's head! However, that's exactly what Joss Petersen is suggesting you do with it, on the website Planet Green, a Discovery Channel website.

Apparently it works great as a shampoo substitute, it's good for dandruff and effective against lice, and it's  eco-friendly to boot!

By the way, our cider vinegar is the kind about which the health benefits are generally claimed; in other words it is the unpasteurised, unfiltered kind which still contains the "mother" of vinegar - this can sometimes be seen as a slightly cloudy skein and can be used as a starter to make more vinegar, similar to the way in which a live yoghurt can be used to start off a new yoghurt culture. If you see this skein in your vinegar, you shouldn't be put off using it, it's perfectly harmless, but if you want you can strain your vinegar through a tea strainer or sieve.
